History
Willesborough Baptist
Church has a congregational roll of over 200
people who are linked to the church in an extensive
programme of weekly activities.
In 1902 a
small chapel was built in Willesborough as it
began to grow as a suburb of Ashford. In the mid 1970's
there was a dwindling congregation and the church was on the verge
of closing. Facing the challenges, the church discovered
that closure was not on God's agenda and growth began to
take place.
The Rev Alan Dinnie became the part time pastor who soon
became full time. Growth was prepared for with extensive
building taking place providing a new Church and office rooms.
Other areas were refurbished. In 2003 we extended the
premises again with a £120,000 extension project to increase
the size of the church and relocate the offices. The
extension opened at Easter 2003.
We have
recognised the growth that is taking place in and around
Ashford and in 1996 we planted a congregation on the
Highfield estate of Willesborough. Highfield Community
Church are now independent.
We are committed
to serving God in the locality of Willesborough, the town of
Ashford, and it's surrounding areas. Many who worship with us
come from villages that are scattered throughout the borough.
